Sacramento's Tea Party

Geez, I can't believe this photo was taken 15 days ago.  So busy.  Anyway, I happened upon the Tea Party (yes, low taxes are good, but so are social services... not  a fan of the party) and saw this: 

Apparently, spelling isn't a requirement for being a conservative, tax hater.  I did like meeting this Tea Partier.

To be honest, I was surprised by the hate in several of the messages.  Some racist comments about Obama, some references to Nazi's.

A Compromise

When I have kids, I am willing to forgo peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in their lunch bags, if you vaccinate your kids.  Deal?

Public Art Shenanigans II

All sorts of public art fun in Rittenhouse Square these days.  An April Fools rain shower did not keep someone from enjoying the warmer spring weather by sharing some flowers.

Concrete

Concrete, how I love you.  It is a flexible material that can create amazingly fluid designs.  Most concrete buildings being constructed today get their strongest design features from their curtain walls, but concrete can do so much more.  Although demand and prices for steel fell with the collapse of the real estate market, poured in place reinforced concrete is and will probably always be big business.  The Romans used it and so do we.  Anyway,this NYTimes article discusses advances in concrete mixing.  Hrm, the numerous references to fruitcake bother me, but at least concrete is getting a little press.
